Why do I need math in graphic design?

I've been doing graphic design since before computer's took it over. You need math to figure distance, slope and yes - especially geometry. Trust me - when the computer first stepped in to graphics, I had to write mathematical equations to draw pix. Now the programmers have made it much easier. Try drawing a bezier curve without math knowledge :)

Mostly you will need geometry, with a bit of basic arithmetic thrown in.

If you can't work out how big something is, or what angle it needs to be, then how on earth would you be able to do graphic design in the first place? There's a lot more to it than just drawing pictures.

Luckily, most of the Adobe programs have basic math functions built right into their measurements palettes!

I agree with old groupie, you specially need geometry. I am not into graphic design but I was in a design class and geometry was really necessary.

Not only geometry, you may need to calculate some fractals.
