Me and a couple co workers were talking about that same thing on Monday. We decided it was because you wouldn't need the weight loss remedies without the yummy recipes.

It's a symptom of cultural schizophrenia. Think about how women are portrayed in blatantly sexual ways, but are called ***** and ****** if they have a lot of sex/have sex with a lot of people.

Because they have to put in the recipes to keep you eating junk and fat. If you lost weight, you wouldn't need their advice on how to lose weight. That's my cynical view. The reality is that there's little rhyme or reason as to what goes into those magazines.

Think of it as a disclaimer for the unhealthy stuff.

Every magazine is very aware of who their demographics are and they choose their articles and ads accordingling. They know that the women who buy their magazines are interested in collecting recipes, may see the cover as a special dessert they want to make for the next holiday and at the same time are fighting a constant battle with weight and are concerned about their health. Everything that appears in a magazine is very well thought out.
