Because they know we love to hear that sort of stuff & it keeps us happy for few days before they're back to themselves (in your case ignore you), before you're angry again then they give you a new line.

Perhaps he is overwhelmed by a perceived need to be successful in a career or other intensely distracting duty that he believes will keep both of you secure. If not, and he's just hanging around playing video games or out with his friends, then he's either innocently deluded or an outright liar. Your leaving him will bring him to his senses and/or be a good riddance. Best of luck.

That statement and others like it are often a part of a romancing strategy that is all about getting a girl into bed for sex. Once that is achieved and the guy no longer wants to get the girl into bed then the guy will ignore that girl and move onto the next girl that interests him and he will use the same or similar tactic that has been successful in the past.
Lets face it sadly a lot of woman will believe anything that comes out of a fake mans mouth if they like the guy and have an interest in him. But they will not be interested in the genuine expression of love and affection that comes out of a mans mouth whom they find boring or plain.
When it come to this game it takes two to tango the man who is a smooth liar and the woman who wants to hear sweet lies from a cute guy.Like (1)
