Why do most digital cameas come in a silver color?

Many products that companies want to market as "cutting edge" tech are made in silver, although "a color for everyone's style" has become popular with more basic cameras that are targeted at those who just want something that takes pictures. The high end cameras come in black because professionals, and camera buffs want a camera that will blend with their surroundings, and not scare a possible photo subject.

Also, this is just a guess, but the external color of the camera may cause a slight color tint to the pictures it takes, while silver and black would affect the picture less. It's not something a regular joe would notice, but camera buffs would.

Do they? I think that I have seen mostly black ones and pink ones.

It's no mistake. They're silver because that's the color people prefer. Why people prefer silver I don't know.

Surprisingly, this is an interesting question. Originally photographs were made by exposing light to "film negatives" which were made by coating acetate with a thin film of silver. This is where the tradition began. It was then embraced by the Japanese, and later the Chinese, who produce most of the world's digital cameras.

Silver matches everything, lots of products are made in silver because people like to be colour coordinated. It's a modern colour and both boys and girls will like it.

I see the more expensive ones are still black. But silver is nice, and like black, goes with most clothes and stuff (for the fashion-conscious).

Mine is pink, but silver is probably easier and cheaper to manufacture
