No where in the Quran or Sunna it says that a woman has to cover her face, that what counts - I don't care about whoever says whatever, we only follow the Quran and Sunna.

For the same reason that, for centuries, Catholic women had to cover their heads in church ...bullsh*t tradition!

Muslim women are not obligated to cover their faces, although in places like Saudi Arabia it is more common to see that. A covering called hijab only covers the hair, ears and chin. The niqab (mostly commonly seen in places like Saudi Arabia) covers everything expect the eyes. These coverings are to protect the women from having man only like her for her looks and not for who she is as a person.Wearing these coverings is a CHOICE made by the WOMEN. It is not a decision made by men

Could it be that they are so ugly their men are ashamed of them ? The koran says that they must cover their breasts, no mention of any thing else.

"In Saudi Arabia, women wear a loose robe called abaya and a face veil called niqab, while in nations like Tunisia or Turkey; Muslim women tend to wear only a headscarf. In Iran, they take a step further and the “fashion police” mandate all women to wear loose clothing – preferably a black or white robe – when going out, women are also supposed to wear either a full face veil or scarf. One of the extremes of burqa is the Afghan burqa, which was enforced by the Taliban. This burqa covers the entire body in loose clothing with the face (including eyes) being covered with only a grille for the women to look through."

They don't. It is their choice most of the time. The only condition, according to the islamic teachings and scholars, is to cover one's hair and wear modest clothing. The face veil is not mandatory.

I guess Tradition ... and I think this concept is outdated and they need to change this policy of covering their faces ... but, their religion will not allow that to happen and I guess we have to accept it (graciously) as they are and leave them alone period. And, that's life ...
