Some people if not all of us are slightly deluded.. Denial for some can be a coping mechanism... Im saying it's healthy ... Just a fact

That too makes sense..if we deny then it doesn't exist and not only do we not have to cope, but we don't have to figure things out. Thanks for your thoughts.

Sometimes thats the only way to go about things. But yes its denial. Its actually a very strong defense mechanism which actually protects us, gives us some time.

It's interesting, sad, and just plain boggling that we as humans sometimes do this and buy time as you put it..but what is even more interesting to note is despite buying time, sometimes nothing is ever done with that time. Go figure.

    hello, SmartSweet1,

yes, it is denial............. and sometimes people do that because the reality is too difficult for them to deal with.

as a kid, i told everyone that my father was dead

............. and i almost came to believe it

............... because it was easier than accepting that he had abandoned me.

so, yes, i was in denial, until i grew up and got some therapy to deal with it.

    respect, from robbie

That is so insightful...I do suppose it would have something to do with whether whatever someone was denying was good or not so good in the first place in terms of dealing with. If something was good, then denying it existed doesn't make too much sense other than the fact that whomever might not have the ability to deal with good due to too much bad in one's life. I think this is one of those ponderables that may not have an answer. Thank you for your response.

Because, for them it would be better if that one thing (or multiple things) didn't exist. I assume

And yet perhaps when whatever existed it maybe wasn't a bad thing at the moment...who knows?
