Conspiracy theories have their basis in truth. But usually wildly exagerated truth.

The origin is simple. Governments rarely tell people the whole truth... and a vaccum of information will suck in whatever distorted crap is flying around to fill in the gaps.

That's how we get the wild theories - almost none of which is true by the way... but almost all of which contain some small elements of truth.

Paranoia. And because, any time you get 5 or more people together, conspiracies are entirely possible.

Many lies are based on truth.
Many people do the unthinkable.

It's the easy way out, and somehow comforting. Doing your homework and fact-checking will always have you come out the winner in a debate. Always good to know what you're talking about, rather than thinking you know what you're talking about.

Makes life more interesting........and for the guilty, it makes for a good alibi when one doesn't have a valid one.

You should be asking why not? Do you believe we are all saints?

Surely you must believe there are some conspiracies?

Is there murder and child molestation? Why not conspiracies?
