Why do people confess anonymously?

When a confession is anonymous, you can still leave feed back or advice (comments) for the confession.

When you do it anonymously, you cannot be attacked on a personal front and only be attacked for everything YOU decide to put out in the open.

It's because you're not really putting yourself out there, you're doing it as a representative for you that can't e traced back to you therefore you can't get hurt.

Most people have someone to go to, but once you open that door (confession) there's no going back. (I'm talking more in lines of an abusive relationship.) You end up making people mad because, one they might not believe you or they take sides.

I lived in an abusive home for many years. The times I seeked "actual" people help, it made them uncomfortable and they bailed. Our relationship was never the same. So I kept things a secret. When I finally couldn't any more and I spoke, I lost all my friends. People are odd, I guess they think they have enough problems to get involved in others. But who really knows but them.

To unburden themselves. To take the first step in a journey.

Sometimes there are somethings you shouldn't say in front of your Mother or anyone else. Anonymous is a burden reliever and a growth mechanism.

Because they don't want you to judge them on their name, sex, physical attributes, just on what they have to say.

I've made anonymous confessions. Sometimes I want to be separate from my dirty laundry, but I want it aired out at the same time.

It gets stuffy in here (my head) sometimes.

For many reasons, maybe they are scared of what people will think, or the judgments some people may pass.

It is nice to be able to say what you want to say and not have to worry about people connecting the statement directly to you.

An anonymous confession frees you of any personal connection and thus any judgment
