Why do people fight instead of giving a hand up?

because not everything is as simple as 'giving a hand up to those who are searching'

Lust, misunderstanding, prejudice, imitation, hatred... All is due to lack of knowledge and love of the One True God. With knowledge now overflows the world like water of the seas, all will change.
The Kingdom of God will be inevitably established on earth perhaps in this century with greater efforts of His lovers.

Putting aside the spiritual belief part, the reasons why some people hurt instead of help can be many.

1) they haven't dealt with their own issues of past abuses, current problems, live in fear, or have boundary issues.

2)they are under the influence of negative spirits whose goal is to sway the incarnated off their path, inflaming feelings of anger, rage, doubt, and fear.

3)their own built-up negative emotional energy is preventing them from seeing situations clearly.

When others "hurt" you, you back away from Trust.
As "trust" becomes Shattered, LOVE gets 'lost in the shuffle'. Then "hate", seeing its' Opportunity, RUSHES in
"TO CLAIM THE VICTORY".
So the "follow-up" Question is:
How do WE stop those BENT ON HURTING 'You' AND 'Me' ?

hmmm. well while I don't agree with all you said, everyone should try to get closer to the spiritual force drawing us all together. maybe people fight because it is easier than giving a hand up?

because they do not agree with eachother, and are willing to fight this.

I agree with summerwind, its easier to fight about it, then to per say "turn the other cheek"

there are lots and lots of people give a hand up. you see what you're looking for.

others do not always believe as you do.

sometimes the best way to help someone along their path is to put hurdles in their way - to strengthen them for the next step, personally I like the insights conflict brings, the fighting isn't always a bad thing.

yes some fight from ego, some fight from lust for power, some fight for they have not yet come close to this creator of which you speak.

and some will give a hand up.

Unfortunately it is not so easy to guide as you may think, the way to god is one you must find yourself, or not at all, each person finds a different path, yours will be different than those you will meet.

Sometimes people need to be told they are wrong. Especially when it comes to anti-reason spirituality.

It is human nature to attempt making eveyone conform to their way of thinking. I do not believe there is a god but I do not try to force my beliefs on anyone. For every person you claim "fights" you, there is another who attempts to convert me. They even knock on my front door in an effort to get me to see the "light" I have never knocked on someones door to to try to convince them there is no "light". Many religous fanatics throughout history have used their beliefs to vent their hatred against those who believe there is another meaning to life. Just look at some of the comments these good Samaritans make against some EP members. They are cruel, vindictive and without shame. Perhaps you should be asking yourself why they do that, does their "god" expect it of them?

They don't want to let go of their pride or humble themselves. They just want to show how big and bad they are because deep down, they are very insecure and have a very low self esteem.

Why do people refuse the "hand up"?

Simply because theo'ry'logcial systems of religion are so perverse that "The Way of Truth is evil spoken of" ;-(

The mutitudes have been braindirtyed by both the secular and religious educational processes of this wicked world and so it is they fight and refuse the "hand up" ;-(

Because of such braindirtying, evil is declared to be good, and light becomes darkness to the multitudes, those who but serve 'time' in 'd'evil's world ;-(

Such braindirtying makes it very hard to "see" that "the WHOLE world is under the control of the evil one"?

Yet there is hope!
