Austrians speak German- Algierians speak French. Canadians and People of Holland speak all manner of languages. What's the big woop?
So are you...I'm a Chick
Wonderful, but why can't a female be a dude??
Some are- visit Fire Island
English is the language...no matter what the accent is...
cause the guy was a butt head
because everyone hates the englanders ..... especially the jocks.
I'm american...but I speak english...
i'm welsh and a jock is a scot.
lol...guess I learned something too....I must be careful when I travel one day.
No just a proud Scot.
The problem is.... his LANGUAGE is English, but his ACCENT is Scottish.
If he was speaking Scottish (Scots Gaelic) you wouldn't have understood a word of it. You owe that guy a punch.
Your best bet in future, though, is don't ever drop the "E" word around a Scot you don't know. Even be careful with "British". Just... pretend it's an entirely separate country until you know how he feels about it :P
Firstly never, never, ever tell a Scot that he looks, acts, dresses, like an Englishman or speaks English. They are extremely proud of their separate ways and speech. Americans, Canadians, South Africans Australia etc. do speak VERSIONS of English due to the colonization and propagation of their language.
Many, myself included, prefer to speak and write English English as it is what we learned in in school. So although English is spoken in England even they have so many dialects it is impossible for an Englishman to honestly say he can understand what any person from any part of his own country is saying. But at least if a person speaks pure English any person from any English speaking country or for that matter many other countries will understand.

Accents and idiom do not change the essence of the language. If they did, one would then have to regionally divide the United States as well....because many of the Southern accents are so thick, they have to use sub-titles when airing them on television so that they can be understandable to the people in the rest of the country.
However, you could make a scholarly case and present it to the Commissioner of Official Languages in GB.
I speak Texan, which is a language unto itself.
It has a totally different accent from southern, more drawl to it. Real Texan has quite a few Spanish words in it.
I'm here nearly every day. I'm always looking for interesting people.
I have, indeed.
Sorry about the punch dude, the scotsman is wrong, he's speaking english.....just with a scottish accent. Maybe he's not the highest quality kilt in the drawer if ya know what I mean, lol.
Well I am from New Mexico, USA and English is just about out the door for this state. I give it 20 more years and it will be mostly gone. In school kids have to do everything in both Spanish and English.
English is English regardless. Though the word itself is looking alienated from my screen...
Good question! They even spell some of the language differently.
yw....but wasn't it outlawed to speak their native tongue?
They don't have their own language , you are thinking of either Irish or Welsh.
Thats sweet, but I think I have shoes older than you! ;)
LoL Funny......Loubi's? j/k
No. Scottish speaking English is still speaking English..
Well, he's an áss.
