It's the time of the year they're reminded of how lonely they are.

We have this magical experience of friends and family em
bedded into our heads as to what the holiday should bring to us. It never pans out that way usually, so is depressing and makes us sad. Like (2)

Hallmark, being brainwashed by tv specials portraying romance, love and togetherness with family and the disillusionment when you dont have any of those things.

For one thing, people expect too much of themselves. Then they become angry when they are unable to deliver. It doesn't matter if it's the gifts they couldn't afford, or the "perfect" atmosphere they were unable to create. They believe that the problem is within themselves, when sometimes it's just situational.

i get depressed on every holiday. i guess it comes from not being settled and being able to do the things you want. it gets depressing when you see all the festivity going on and its depressing when youre suffering on a day where everyone is celebrating

Because some people don't havve anybody to spend time with, or they do and they're afraid to admit things to their family that may not be acceptable, also it's winter. A rather dreary (although my second favorite) Season.
