They are trying to con us. They cannot make all of us believe their silly "gou pi", but enough people do that to make many such con men wealthy. Some use a 2012 end of the world hoax; some use the bermuda Triangle hoax; some are priests of various religions, etc., and gullible people may pay well to hear these frauds' lies.
Thats your choice. You don't have to believe.

1. It can be convenient for them.<br />
2. They like to say what we want to believe so we will be happy while we are with them; it's easier to deal with people who are happy.<br />
3. They have something to sell, figuratively or literally.
i dont know ....sometimes its to make them feel better about themselves ..sometimes its to show off ..<br />
and sometimes it's because they have lied so much that they start to believe it themselves

usually it's 1, because they can or 2, because they believe it themselves. It also can be because they're trying to manipulate you into doing something, and somehow they'll get something from it if we fall for it. But usually it's because of the first two reasons.
