Why do people say that if the person who attempted suicide really wanted to die they would have done it right?
I know you shouldn't commit suicide and that it's wrong, but I hate it when someone attempts suicide people say that they are an attention seeker and that if they wanted to die for real they would have done it right the first time.
You could have the perfect plan and almost be dead but have someone save you and that is considered a suicide attempt. They would really be dead like they wanted to if that didn't happen. So a suicide attempt is what happens when someone saves you.
You can save yourself, too, I guess. But it is really hard to save yourself once you are seriously committed to it.
Aborted suicide is when you have a plan and you don't do it once you have everything ready. I did this once or twice. That is also really strong, because unless you've been there, you don't know how hard it is.
People need to understand that calling someone weak for attempting suicide "because if they really wanted to die they would have" is untrue.
