Technically they are but the way people say it is like they're trying to get people to tell them to stop like some dramatic little brat. The attention people with suicidal thoughts want is love. They want someone to care about them, genuinely. They want to know that there's a chance and a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe they don't have to do it. They look for a reason because they want a reason. Because deep down inside, they really want to live, it's just that the problems in their life become too unbearable to cope with.
I also feel that people say that suicidal people are just looking for attention, are the people who choose to ignore those who need help the most because they don't want to deal with it but will cry and plead others to help them. They'll even say things like suicide is selfish. Do you wanna know what's selfish? Ignoring someone's feelings when they're on the brink of ending their lives just so that they can be happy and content. That's what's selfish. And then they cry at their funerals as if they felt for them all along.
To the people that do this, don't act like it's not there. It is there. Would you let someone with a severed arm bleed to death and say to them, "I can't believe you're letting yourself die right now. That's totally selfish. It's like you're not even trying.."? No. You'd help them right away. So what's the difference?
Depends on the person some who talk about it don't really won't to die just want someone to talk to. Others do but are not sure if it's the right thing to do
because they are. why else would they attempt suicide while everyone is home in the other room? or somewhere where someone will find their body? the ones who do it and actually want to die do it somewhere where they wont be found for days and they dont pick a lame method such as taking tylenol or other over the counter drug.
Because the serious ones just do it and never talk about it.
they want to talk about there favorite subject, themselves
