Resolved Question

Why do People think the atrocities are created by God?

Jesus was sent to reassure us of our Heavenly Father's Kingdom. Why do soooo many not get it ?

Are we 'THICK' ?

It's been that way since He walked on the earth.....I think there will always be those out there, who ridicule and blame God....

It's easier to blame God, than to look in the mirror, right?

People need to know, and place the blame for all the evil...where it is due.....There is an evil force in the world....and we need to count on God, because that's where we get protection from it....

If you want to know why there is so much evil in the world.....blame Satan....

Blaming "god" for misfortunes is common and has been since the beginning of time. War, crime, genocide and things of human origin should be blamed on humans. In most religions, the god has set down rules of conduct. So if someone is mugged, it's because somebody disobeyed the rules and is not god's doing, but the mugger's.

The blame for natural disasters does not lie with any god, either. There's a cause-and-effect there. People live on the slopes of volcanoes, on flood plains, and on beaches. And even those whose homes are in supposedly safe places are not exempt from earthquakes, forest fires, etc.

But everyone who has a religion believes gods can work miracles, so when a miracle is needed, it is prayed for. If the miracle is not forthcoming, it is assumed that the god has withheld it. Gods are perceived as allmighty beings who can be nice or nasty according to whim.

To me, divine beings (and yes, I believe in them) are not honoured with prayers and donations, are not sky-dwelling parents or kings and queens. We honour our gods by doing, not in words. There is no "blame" - when bad things happen, our worth is determined by how we handle it, not by shifting "blame" on to our gods and goddesses.

Let us puzzle through this one:

If God is as powerful as is so often claimed of Him and as powerful as He claims to be in the Bible, then he must be choosing to permit atrocities. Otherwise, He would stop them. It's a bit of a jump to go from there to "the atrocities were His idea," but still: either God is powerless, or God is a jerk.

If God is powerless, we have no reason to pay him any attention. If God is a jerk, then we have even less reason to pay him any attention.

Or, He could just be a figment of our imaginations, in which case the atrocities are our own fault and we can do something about them.

Fin.

Hi c8lorraine
I understand a God to be a powerful entity. For the powerful to stand by when they could prevent abuse and injury is wrong. If therefore there is a God and it allows atrocity when able to prevent them then that God stands condemned. Maybe I am THICK but it seems to me to be a rational internally consistent point of view.
That is what I think anyway. I have been up in a Judeo-Christian culture and have been exposed to the idea of God and that is my considered reaction.

*Yawn*

Enough of your religious propaganda.

None of those things you are speaking of have ANY shred of proof. The events, people you are speaking of are nothing more than fairy tales...STOP already. Jesus Christ!

I don't. They are either created, by man, or natural elements. There is no third option.
