Because they are feeling overwhelmed with their problems. Adolescents in particular feel that no one wiil understand their issues and, worse, that no one cares. If one of your friends feels this way, lead them to get help from a school counselor or their parents.

Sometimes they are so oppressed by a sense of hopelessness that nothing in this life works out for their good, so what's the point of living? Other times it might be a heavy sense of guilt that they think they are the source of everyone's misery, that killing themselves is the only solution left in order to secure everyone's happiness.
And just so you know, suicide is NEVER the answer. Once it is done, and only with suicide, you are IRREVERSIBLY screwed.

because they are stuck in hopeless negativity... they have forgotten how to smile and be happy.. without love, life has little meaning
