Why do ppl always discredit the Old Testiment?

Start with Jesus, who told followers that they were taught in the Old Testament "an eye for an eye," but now that there is a New Covenant between God and Man (the birth, life, and death of Jesus was that New Covenant made man), forgot the old rule of "an eye for an eye" and replace it with this: if a man slaps you on the cheek, turn your face and present your other cheek to your enemy, inviting him to strike you again; or if a thief takes your coat, give him your cloak as well.

Old is always bad. Young or new is always good. Maybe some day someone will write another new one and we'll have old and bad, formerly new and a half bad and a new new one and that one will be good.

THE OLD TESTAMENT really has nothing to do with Christianity and THE NEW TESTAMENT. The former is a holy book of Judaism, the latter the accepted writing of the Religion of Jesus' followers -- actually they represent two totally different religions.

The same way I discredit old people and driving.

The old lived by the commandment of death and deed lead to life , the new salvation through faith . In essence it was easier to find life through deeds than by faith . It comes down to who these people were ,by faith or by deed that they will be saved . They will always promote the one that will consider themselves saved .

They both suck really but the old testament has a lot of genocide, slavery etc in it. Don't forget "god" can't make a mistake and than correct it in the new testament god is not allowed any mistakes or he isn't god is he?

Eh, that debate's been going on for millenia. Since the days of Christ.

I think questioning is always a good idea. And I believe God wants us to question so that we know why we believe what we believe. We're here to learn from each other.

I know this Jewish fellow who would not agree with you on that.

There are many questions about thr Bible you can come up with that have no clear answer...for instance, when Jesus was to be crusified, he went on the mount to pray and left his diciples at the foot of the mount and told them to wait. When he came back down, they were asleep and rebuked them. Now latter on they wrote what he prayed..can't figure out how they knew..of course all things are possible with God. My niece has the best answer yet, her Dad is a preacher and she would ask this type of question and his reply was...write those questions down on some paper, put them in a shoe box under your bed, and you can ask him when you see him.

Because god went through a total personality change between the tow testaments, and the OT god is not so fashionable these days.
