Because our mind can't fathom the notion of it. If someone were to say they killed a 100,000 people, were almost like respond to that with "... Well done! You killed a 100,000 people? You must get up very early in the morning"

people are interested in the unknown in general and maybe it's cause we've all wanted to kill someone at some point I guess we can be curious how these people actually end up doing it
