I don't care so much for chivalry, I prefer, common human decency. If you're going in a door, and there is someone coming in after you, hold it open, male or female. Or if you see someone struggling to cary something, you offer to help them, again, male or female. Personally I don't care to be "feminine". I like to like what I want, and wear what I want. I do like to wear skirts sometimes, but I don't make it a priority. I hate these makeover shows that put women in high heels that can barely walk in them, and mini skirts with these over the top hair do's. How many people have a job where they can wear things like that? How many people have three hours in the morning to do their hair and makeup? I ask for one thing. BE REALISTIC! I work in a grocery store, wear a yellow polo shirt to work everyday, I'm up to my elbows in dirt and leaves all day, on my feet all day. Why do I need to put on a pound of makeup? As long as I'm comfortable. I really don't care.

I'd assume it's for the same reason that some guys like being 'masculine'? I guess it's just a way for people to identify themselves, and while everyone is different, all women are in fact, women, and in certain cultures (particularly European based ones) the concept of 'chivalry' or simply being respectful to women is socially acceptable? For example, how many guys do you know who say "I don't hit women" because it is regarded as morally wrong by society. Personally I believe that people shouldn't not hit anyone unless they really deserve it, regardless of gender. But a guy hitting another guy does not hold the same social stigma. It's just part of the culture I guess.

Cultural norms.
And Because some ladies are down w being ladies!
I'm never just "one of the guys," happy to keep that way.
And yes I get respect.

Perhaps, but this is just me, they like being treated like 'that' because that's who 'they' are.
