Resolved Question

Why do some friends expect you to do something when they know you are not ready?

I have a friend of 11 years OR do I? We always used to hang out with each other or talk on the phone alot. I confided in her and told her about something that happend between my husband and I. Now she seems aloof. I've called her but no response. Then about 1 month later she calls me and asks me if I'm divorced yet! I guess she was expecting me to do it when she thought it was the right time. She knew that I do things my way. I don't follow what everybody else does. So what do you think about this friend?

Because they're not interested in being friends when it doesn't benefit them somehow.

Maybe you gave her a glimpse of your pain when it was at it's peak and she thought it seemed insurmountable to her. Maybe she thought if she could never recover from it that no one could.

A true friend will be there for you in whatever decision you make I think you need to find a new friend.

True friendship, like anything of value, is defined by quality not by quantity of years.

You cannot tell a friend about how awful your husband is or the terrible things he has done, and then later wonder why they do not like him and encourage you to break away.

The information you provided is inadequate to provide a useful answer as there are too many variables. It sounds as though whatever you shared with your friend either shocked her, scared her, or disappointed her. It took her a while to come to terms with what you had shared, and once she had, she let you know what she thought you should do. I would say it is likely that, in her own way, she is trying to help you get out of a situation she sees as bad for you, although other interpretations are certainly possible.

Sounds to me like a bitter old b*tch that wants to stick it to you in your time of doubt so you screw up your relationship. She sounds envious and underhanded. Women talk to the worst people when it comes to things like this. Other women, particularly ones that are bitter about relationships anyway, hate for someone else to have better relationships or for their to work out. You're a woman, you know how underhanded women can be, especially when it comes to relationships.
