I think the sick thing for me is, "why do so many women respond to it"? There would be a SHlT load of polite men out there, if women didn't find them to be SO attractive!
Movies show it all the time, the nice quite nerd guy steals the girl of his dreams from the azzhole quarterback....WAKE UP!!...it's only a movie, that SHlT NEVER really happens.....EVER!
SO, I have 2 answers....
ANSWER 1: women bring it out in guys.
ANSWER 2: Nice guys finnish last.

I think you maybe need to look at some of those shy guys who normally are too scared to ask a girl out. Maybe they are really diamonds in the rough and just need a little encouragement from an attractive woman. I have known overbearing guys along the way, but also some really decent guys who tried to be nice and decent with others.

This attitude kind of makes me ashamed of my gender.

But you get bad apples with everything really.

Likewise, there are woman that know guys like them, and toy around with them.

Whatever gender, and whatever direction, people generally just need to grow up.

Because men are weird and always like to be pursuing something and looking for a new challenge. That is probably why they are more prone to cheat, they like to pursue and conquer, once they do that..what else is there.
