What is more irritating to me is when one side labels the other sides opinion a lie. An opinion is just what you think about something it is neither a fact or a lie.

According to the National Science Foundation one in five Americans still believes the sun revolves around the earth. That's not due to a lack of education, but flat out denial which is so common and widespread it's beyond an epidemic. If you ever wondered why politics are so strange or why people act so crazy that's the explanation. People are just pretty nutty and the real question is how we manage to get along as well as we do and make as much progress as we do considering the entire world is one big nut house.

Me and my brothers argue a lot over my facts.
In my day I pick up a lot of facts and things while bored on the interwebz so I do a lot of reading etc.
When I come to tell them some things they say that those are just opinions and that i'm stubborn because I refuse to say they're not facts... So there you have it -_-

Humans are inherently ego-centric in the original sense of the word. Most people don't actively base their thoughts and responses in fantasy so they work from the perspective that their opinions are grounded in factual truth ipso facto.

because they believe in it and know what they believe in because it is what they have learned from there point of view with out looking through some one else's eyes and seeing what they or you see in particular
