Cause antibiotics are only helping against bacterial infections. And so often they are prescribed when the doctor isn't even sure if it is a bacterial or not. The problem being there: The real bacteria get resistant against antibiotics which is a huge problem for everyone! If dangerous bacteria get resistant against all antibiotics then people who are really ill might not be able to recover anymore from previously treatable bacterial infections becuase there is simply no antibiotic anymore that is working.

Antibiotics are incredibly overused and abused today.
Everyone takes one if they start with a cold. Now we have to come up with ever new and improved drugs to take care of what once was a simple matter.
In addition to that, anitbiotics are not selective. They don't just go after the 'bad' bacteria, but it wipes out all of the gut flora. So your gut is starting from scratch every time you take one. The body can be only as healthy as the gut. That is a lot of damage to your gut over the years.
