Resolved Question

Why do some people on post comments on silly confessions and not on people who are posting serious confession?

I stole this question from confessions, and have seen it many times before, so I thought I'd put it out there for everyone to have a chance to share their thoughts on it. I look forward to your answer, no matter what it is, as long as its as honest as you can be.

Commenting on silly confessions is pretty risk free. There's not much chance that what you say will screw somebody's life up.

Commenting on a serious confession requires a degree of responsibility.

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm afraid to give the wrong advice to people with serious problems. In fact, I've left comments, left the confession page and gone back in a bit of a panic to delete my comment. Terrified that what I'd adviced is the wrong thing!

Because posting on a serious confession requires thought and sensitivity. It's a much more delicate situation, and what you say can have the potential to cause some pretty serious emotional/psychological damage to the poster or people who identify. Sometimes if people don't know how to say something, or what to say to comfort someone, they just don't say anything all all.

It is much easier to provide a bit of wit and humor to a fun and silly confession or question. However it takes thought with the exertion of some brain power to compile a response that is helpful without being offensive to a more serious inquiry.

1.I don't feel I have anything helpful/insightful to offer on more serious topics.

2.I'm afraid what I will say will have a negative impact on someone.

i dont like to give advice in the confessions section. i like to know who i am speaking with and check in on them from time to time. you dont get that opportunity with confessions.......and as for the non serious ones, sometimes you just cant help but comment on the ridiculous sh*t you read. and like robert hedrock said, the silly confessions are risk free.
