Resolved Question

It seems that the majority of people are all for free speech as long as it is speech they agree with. For example, anyone who questions anything Obama is doing is automatically labeled as a racist, and anyone who questioned what Bush was doing was told to move to another country. Not to mention any mention of anything spiritual. Is it better to have free speech, or restrict speech so we never have to worry about being offended?

As you stated they only want to restrict 'free speech' if it disagrees with their opinions... in 1st world countries. In many other countries it is a matter of control (i.e. China) while in some it is a matter of a lack of religious toleration (i.e. Iran), or most likely some combination of the two. The concept of truly 'free speech' has never existed in any country and honestly for good reason. While I abhor anyone telling someone they cannot 'speak their mind' I completely understand and agree that you cannot simply allow someone to walk into a crowded movie theater and shout 'FIRE!', or stand up on an airplane and shout "I HAVE A BOMB". Public safety does have to 'trump' free speech upon occasion. Unfortunately, with the Patriot Act and how it is frequently abused in the USA we have taken it much too far.
