I don't have a problem with horror films. I have a problem with s.h.i.t.t.y. horror films with cheap CGI effects, bad acting, lousy storylines and shoddy direction. In otherwords SyFy originals. What are they doing this week "Super Massive Octopus Vs Giant Bad Tempered Cobra IV"? The SyFy recipe for an original: Take d list actors from the 80s and 90s, blend with plenty of women with surgically enhanced bodies, add poorly executed CGI effects of giant mutant animals (or extreme weather phenomenon) edit it together and call it a movie.

i agree those movies are horrible. but they allways do this charactrer grouping : 1 old man or woman who knows allot about the main problem in the movie, 1 "sexy" woman or girl whos just there by mistake to be with. the main "hero" some brash arrogant guy who acts like he does not know what to do and thus they use him to make the movie last longer. its all the same cheap **** that never ends.

Because people keep paying to see them, hence they make money and decide to make another one to make more money.

You have a point, but scary movies make for easy story lines that the producers don't have to work very hard on.
