Why Do Thin People Stereotype All Overweight People As Lazy, Over Indulgent, Smelly, Not Fit To Breath The Same Air.

A major portion of overweight people have no control over it. Eating less is not some magic bullet. Researchers have found that genetics play a major roll. How many super skinny people eat 10 times more than the Fat gut but never gain a ounce? Genetics. Why do some people no matter how hard they try are still fat? Genetics. Medical conditions and medicines cause weight gain. The health nuts need to get off their high horse. I worked a physically demanding job and never lost weight. I have been fat my whole life. I just wish people would accept us as we are and not what they think we should be.

Even though you do relate a common stereotype of overweight people, we must be careful not to stereotype all thin people either. Not all thin people believe these things that you mentioned here. As for the stereotype, it is still acceptable to bash overweight people--but this is done more covertly than overtly--like in seeking employment, for example.

There's always exceptions. But the majority of overweight people could stand to adopt a healthier diet and lifestyle

We have become a vapid and shallow culture, obsessed with instant gratification and the pursuit of material possessions and carnal pleasures...

    It's not a stereotype.

People don't get fat by falling down the stairs. They don't get fat by wearing shoes. They don't get fat by listening to classical music.

People get fat by eating fat-filled food and sitting on their ***** until they need two chairs to sit. Pretending it's anything else is an attempt to excuse laziness and gluttony.

How uniformed you are. Ever heard about PCOS? How about Prednisone,Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa? What's worse being depressed or gaining weight?

several medical condition and medications are to blame but there is also a genetic issue and that of having ancestry that didn't eat meat very much and then being thrust into the modern world with meat eating white folks in the last 120 years the navaho indians are historically know to be an athletic group but now they are known to be heavy i remember this lady way back when I lived in this house years ago that my neighbor used to be vicious to his wife i got in several fights with the guy (back then you didn't call the cops on people) and I did get arrested for beating the crap out of him but he hit her right in front of me I was not charged the cops took me in but the whole time we had been talking and these two cops were good guys and when i was being booked i had cuts on my hand and they said that the cops who brought me in would have to take me to get stitched up but they drove me back to my neighborhood and took me to a fire station where a paramedic taped me and then they asked me if I had anywhere else to go and of course... I digress sorry I am very scatterbrained today the lady next door took the abuse and though she was plump when i first moved in when her ******* husband died of a heart attack she weighed at least 400lb i mean i remember my girlfriend andI looking after her for awhile and she broke the seat in my thunderbird bent the rails and this was an early seventies boat all steel car Man, i'm writing like i'm on speed, but I don't... that stuff is poison.. i mean keed spills...no.. i mean peed skills... no speed kills mf ers and it causes people to get real fat when they finally quit... i don't want to be a fat man people would think that I was just good fun, would rather be a thin man i am so glad to go on being one too much to carry around with you, no chance in finding a woman who will love you in the morning and all the night time too woo...shooting for the longest answer of the day or the most annoying or just being a pest a burden they gave me a notice saying a had the best answer for what is your worst fear i was sitting around this morning talking smack with my niece and it just came out like that ...full of it and if you think this is bad you should ask some of the guys i trained at various jobs during boredom I don't stop, can't stop some body just k..STOP

this question generalizes thin people. i'm thin and i don't stereotype anyone, but it sure sounds like the questioner is stereotyping me.

Because a lot of them just don't try. Not all overweight people actually try. You're giving a lot of them too much credit. You can't put it all on genetics.

If the whole "genetics" thing were true, the obesity rate wouldn't be increasing, it would be remaining steady through generations.

Yeah well eating a large pizza all by yourself doesn't help. No seriously I agree with you to an extent. I've known some overweight people that eat twice as muchas me and I've known some who ate like a bird. I am the opposite, I work at it to keep weight. But I think your stereotype is a little overboard
