we tend to try and find happiness and validation in others. When we are content with ourselves, we recognize and value those who value us. Sometimes it is difficult to accept that we are valuable, to actually believe it.

We ignore the ones who adore us because the ones that really love us are the ones who know almost everything about us and some of us are not comfortable with that. Then we go out and find someone who is pretty much a stranger, that knows little to nothing about us and mistake the fascination of being an enigma and the freedom of living separate lives as love. Then on top of it all, we take the abuse and pain imposed upon us as tokens of love, only to learn afterwards they were not, and as a defense to not letting those bad things happen to us again we take it out on the ones that really care and love us in anticipation of them treating us the way those before them did.
