As a society we pay millions of dollars to someone who can sing, act, excel in sport, invent a gadget to make our lives "eaiser" etc. So i ask again Why do we value entertainment above our fellow man?

Our fellow man just isn't very entertaining. What does he do? Eat and sleep.

It is the rarity of the skill, and the willingness of people to pay top dollar to see those skills in action. <br />

As a teacher, it blows to barely be making it, and to have people think we are lazy and only work 8-4 and have holidays and summers completely off. But I also get that there are hundreds of thousands of teachers (with varying skill levels) and only a few hundred NBA pla<x>yers - and no one is going to but a 150 jersey with my name on it or pay 75 to get to see me explain gerunds to a group of freshmen
