Why do women shave their armpits and men don't?

In some countries, even women don't. However, I think a better question is "Who came up with the fact taht women should shave but men aren't expected to?"!

i dont know but its bloody annoying and time consuming (on the legs), think its time for a bit of role reversal. the men should be de-hairyfying themself instead! we have more important things to do...like washing our hair...andd..powdering our noses :P

I thin the origins of this is ancestral. Men typically choose a woman who is physically appealing, thus showing she is most likely fertile.... so generally younger woman are more fertile and atgtrative to a male... but younger woman generally have less to no hair in theses regions.
I could be wrong.
Nowadays I think it is just a style thing, that men have grown to expect.

stupid custom. i was stationed in germany when i was in the military. the women there don't shave, and they're as sexy and pretty as anywhere else.

Puzzles me. Women seem to smell like women whether they are hairy or not - and to this man, it's a beautiful smell!

I wonder why I shave my face sometimes too. Cultural norm?

Well I guess I have been brainwashed into thinking I need to shave them..because I do, and it is damn annoying. And I guess I am just perpetuating it, as my eldest daughter has started now too.
