I don't follow whatever religion that's from but my GUESS is it is some kind of mantra to clear your mind and focus on God. But I know those aren't just random words , they mean something and can be translated into English.

To tap into the deepest levels of existence and to awaken our inner buddha nature.
Also the more you chant it the less time you have for actions which are not buddhist.
