Why do you chill white wine but not red wine?

Something to do with white wine oxidizing and that takes away from the taste,
AND
Red wine needing to be decanted at room temp for the flavors to fully unfold.

Ya know what, I grew up in a heavily Italian household and I have been known to chill red wines. OH NO!

I don't care if it's $100 a bottle or "Two Buck Chuck" from Trader Joe's. It all depends on your own tastebuds.
