Marriage takes more than love. It takes character.

I have little faith in me and marriage. I can't speak for anyone else. I don't like it because I choose partners poorly, don't play well with others and like my privacy and independence too much. In other words, I'm not good at being married.

It is an outmoded institution that offers very little in this day and age. It is really only defended by those who think there is some sort of societal duty to engage in it, thereby giving it a false mask of respectability. Besides, once a traditional institution starts getting political attention, its entire meaning is lost utterly. Personally, I don't give a damn who marries who for what reason. Have you noticed that the whole gay marriage thing is couched in terms of "I want to be able to inherit" or "I want the same deductions as hetero-marrieds". It's all about money.
That is what marriage is today; a mechanism to gain financial perks.
