Why do you think a lot of young children are trying to grow up so quickly?

Children are meant to grow up and historically most children would be working as soon as they could and they grew up fast. I don't see what the fascination for retarding them and keeping them in a child like state is.

Um, you think turning someone into an automaton who gets up early to work at a boring and unsatisfying job isn't retarding them?Like (1)

Because they don't understand how much being an adult sucks.

All children want to grow up quickly either because mom and/or dad protect them from the real world, or because mom and/or dad suck as human beings and adulthood is their only escape. Eithe way it's up to the parents to allow them the childhood they deserve.

Because in the era of pulling future production forward to keep the facade of fake "economic growth" going with debt and printed cheap "money", you need to crank out or access ever more consumers. It's also extra effective if, besides bombarding them with waves of mindless entertainment, you teach them crap in school, and definitely NO financial knowledge whatsoever.
That way, not only will you have a mass of consuming cogs ready to march to the mall to fulfil CNNs prognostications on a wonderful shopping and consumer sentiment index period, you also have a ready made dependant class in poor physical health that will jump at the chance to elect politicians who will promise to take care of their needs and health if only they sacrifice a little bit more of their freedom and what little earned wealth they make.
Heck, they could probably even get the politicians to get convienience stores to accept Supplimental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) vouchers for junk food and soda... Oh wait, they already did that...Like (2)

Oh, kids are always in a hurry to grow up. They grow up wanting to be big enough to do the things that mom and dad can do. then when they are big enough, they start to remember and long for the days when they were kids.

They need to get jobs earlier to save the country from the current generation's failures

Because young children have always idolized big kids and grownups and they want to do grownup things.
Because they know so much more than kids the same age did a few generations back.
Because they're hitting puberty so much younger than they used to.
Because we don't give them enough credit. As a result, we wind up inhibiting their development.Like (1)

Because they need to survive. They're in really dangerous environments.

I think it has a lot to do with environment plus the hormones seem to be kicking in earlier. This can be due to the food that is being fed to them which is ingested by the human and thus speeding up their changes. Or peer pressure could be playing a major role as well.
