Apparently we love our pets more than our fellow man. Its fine if Fido is suffering to have him euthanized but even though Aunt Bessie is in torment from cancer and she has to go through it until the bitter end. I blame religion....plain and simple. The only reason abortion slipped by is because it can be used to help keep up the facade of those who talk the walk but don't walk the talk.....faith can coverup a sea of iniquity....with a little help from medicine.

To be morally consistent it should be either both are legal or both are illegal.
I prefer the former.
For me quality of life and well-being is more important than just life for its own sake.
While some suffering is inherent and unavoidable in life, and needs simply to be accepted,
there are also levels of unsparing and unending suffering which make life unbearable and with no prospect of change for the better.
When this is the case compassion allows a prevention or an end.
I am a vegetarian in part because I don't agree with the suffering inflicted on animals raised for meat.

They are both important and necessary. In the ccase of abortion, its too bad people can't figure out how to use a condom, but since they dont, and since the world is already vastly overpopulated, and most people that consider having an abortion are also those that are not in the optimal position to raise a healthy and itnelligent member of society, then abortion is is a social good and needs to be legal everywhere.
Assisted suicide is a much thornier issue, but there are people in such pain that living is a worse torture than death, sad as it is. People with horrible cancers for example

The only difference in the subjects is their age at death. So it is only a matter of time, if nothing else changes, before assisted suicide is legalised.

Another step in the long history of eugenics in the western world. Planned Parenthood allocates a large amount of their funds to killing off Black babies. Obamacare does not provide health care for children under 12 years old or those over 51. These people are considered useless to society. Assisted suicide is one step away from justifying the killing off of all sick or chronically diseased people. Eugenics started in the US and spread to Germany in the late 1930's leading eventually to the extermination of 6 million Jews and 4 million other people who were chronically ill, mentally ill or handicapped or Catholic or Jehovah's witnesses. Planned Parenthood is responsible for numerous abortions in third world countries as part of an overall plan to reduce their populations. The myth of overpopulation helped them raise funds for their operation. Their actions hurt the local economies which depended on lots of children to help out in the fields. Overpopulation has been disproved and now Planned Parenthood has lost its federal funding. All of the people in the world could easily live in a state the size of Texas with plenty of room, several acres each.

Assisted suicide is illegal because we don't want people to commit suicide. Even if you manage to convince us that suicide is the right course of action, the individual shouldn't need assistance. If we allowed people to assist, that would be opening a can of worms in investigations. For example, a person who pushes a person off the cliff purposely without the other person's consent, could say in his own defense that he was assisting his suicide. And more people will use that as a defense if it was legal.
