Marilyn Monroe was in many ways an unlikely star - the movie industry was certainly taken aback at her sudden rise to stardom in the early to mid 1950s. As for taking advantage,I think that definitely worked both ways.I may be one of relatively few EPers who remember her when she was alive - and much in the news - but the fact that she is still discussed more than 50 years after her death,says a lot.

Think she just wanted to feel loved like so many of us, and she was willing to look the other way would love to have known her but I have talked with others that did she was a lot more than most knew from some of the stories I have heard.

She was not as dumb as she was made out to be because she was being watched by CIA and FBI because of her sympathies with writers ,directors who had slightly communist leanings. I think she was a genuine good person who was part of a very paranoid society but i think she killed her self because she could not cope with the dreaded "dead bowel" syndrome.
