Why do you use "freedom of speech" online as an excuse?

You realize, freedom of speech is not available in every country around the world right? And you do realize that there are not only American's online right? And that "freedom of speech" does not apply to everyone and if you think it is, then you need to look outside of the US because American's do not govern the internet... /endrant

Well, that was a little bit of a rant wasn't it? lol
Most of the countries that I have been aware of who do use this site do have freedom of speech so which ones were you referring to in particular?

I was just reading up on some drama (on another site) and his argument for being a jerk was that he had freedom of speech.. so yes, *blush* a little bit of a rant.

In most cases you could choose your actions but not your consequences

Because they want to act like ******** without guilt. Saying "freedom of speech" is a quick way to shut people up. I just tell them "yeah, there's freedom of speech wherever you live...but that doesn't mean you can be an ******* without consequence." Then I whip out a "yo mama" joke. D:<

It's ironic because they claim they're exercising freedom of speech...to silence criticism.

If you are talking about people who make racist, sexist, perverted, etc, remarks online....accept this ugliness. They are cowards and will never stop. Scroll by and/or ignore them.

It's kind of weird how that works online. I think the internet it free from those kinds of restraints..unless there are actions taken or remarks made by individuals who do so as a part of a news agency or corporation..thus making the aforementioned agency/corporation responsible for what was said or done..as opposed to just the individual being held accountable.

Are there no online laws for Americans at all? We have them and can close down Twitter & Facebook accounts if anyone breaks our laws!
