Resolved Question

Why does my dad think i am a piece of ****?

he just ignores me and lives his life as it is . just because I live far away doesn't mean I am not still part of the family. So he hates my mother... so what.... I am almost 40 but hell I am still his daughter. This sucks.

no he's not really a douche... he's just really busy with his work I guess.

Your dad is a douche. You're probably better off without his emotionally detached ***

Fathers are generally not the primary caregiver for the children so less of a bond develops. When the children reach adulthood, the bond with children necessarily weakens so the adult child can get on with her life. Whatever the life you have as a 40-year-old, I suspect bonding with your father is not a daily activity, to say the least.

I see what you're talking about, while my dad is not like this... I am dealing with a Sergeant who is... **** that guy. He probably acts like that because he knows HE is a piece of ****.

Sorry to hear that. You should tell him how you feel though, as much as it hurts. If you have to cuss at him, do it. And vent here, you are more than welcome to. I think we all have and it has helped.

Does it really matter after all these years? Just because he's family doesn't mean you have to get along. You don't need his acceptance, respect or love, I'm sure their are plenty other people around who love & support you.

Same story here, I know for a fact that age does not make a change on how you feel about a missing relationship. Why is the relationship with your dad not of quality? don't know, but it has nothing to do with you.
How can you cope? open your eyes, forget about your wishes and crudely look at the reality.
Chances are you will hurt for a time, then your expectations will be gone.
Now again why? may be because deeply he is not a happy person...Take care.

i understand what you feel even when you are 40. talk to him as a person, a human. then tell him your deepest thoughts and feelings to him. let it out, open up, release...
