I'm allergic to bananas, but they make my mouth and throat burn. While you can be allergic to the potassium in the banana, it sounds more like you probably have what I do, which is Oral Allergy Syndrome. It occurs when you're allergic to something plant related that causes your body to think that the fruit you're eating contains that pollen. With bananas, the common culprit is an allergy to Birch trees. You might also be allergic to latex, for the same reason. Some who have this Oral Allergy Syndrome are. The reason that you're having an allergic reaction after you eat the banana, is because the reaction is actually occuring during digestion instead of, like with me, occurring upon immediate contact. That's common, also.

I hope this has been of some help. I know it's a bizarre concept and I'm not sure I've explained it well enough. But, long story short (heh :), stay away from bananas and products containing bananas. Oral Allergy Syndrome doesn't go away. :(
