Why does the guy who gave me H say he tested negative a month before we were together?

Maybe he doesn't want to be honest and truthful to you.

But, on the flip side...Honestly, maybe he didn't really know.

Maybe HE wasn't the one that gave it to YOU. Maybe he was tested, and didn't have it... but you had it and gave it to him? It is possible. Did you have yourself tested "a month" before you slept with him?

Just how did he get tested? Did he show you the results? People can be infected with herpes and not even know it. They unknowingly infect someone else. You could have been a carrier already but not have had an outbreak. Does this person know you have herpes? 2 words: Condom, and Condom.

Or he just doesn't care who or how many people he infects. I know it is harsh but some guys are like that.

You're being sly right? Obviously because he wanted what he wanted and you gave it to him. The SMART thing would have been for you to use a condom AND, you should have taken more time before you had a physical relationship with him anyway. Another suggestion would have been for you and he to go get tested together before you had sex period. You're paying the price for decisions that YOU made. You should ask yourself why you messed with someone that you knew nothing about knowing of the consequences of having unprotected sex. You now have a lifetime reality check. You're the marked one.

If you're talking about HIV, can't it lie dormant in your system for several months? If that was the case, he would have tested negative.

Actually, there is a time when HIV is undetectable but still infectious in the system. If caught in that moment, he would have tested negative.

Before 1993, the tests couldn't detect HIV sometimes for some years after infection.

Today's tests are very effective in detecting HIV, so 2-3 weeks after the infection it will probably be positive in an infected person. Before 2-3 weeks aproximately the test may be negative, because there hasn't been time for the virus to spread and multiply. Nevertheless, it is still infective. And sometimes even in a few months later it cannot be detected, as HIV has a peak detection at 4-6 weeks and then falls by immunologic reaction to minimum levels.

If he had tested negative at that time, one month later he could be positive already or have been infected meanwhile.

Anyway I subscribe - unless both are sure of each others past and both test negative (with no recent change of sexual partners) always use condom... when in doubt, always use condom!
