We have never been colonized, have we?
ctually many may find surprising but us English celebrate st patricks day etc more than ours and actually most are even unaware when it is as not really celebrated though i expect most countries do , especially thse who won their independence :)
Because then they'd have half a year of holidays considering the number of people they subjugated and then had to let go.
What about Bank Holidays? How many are there? Aren't they national holidays?
I'm trying to think how many holidays we have here in the US. Thing is, even Federal Holidays need only be observed by Federal offices, banks, and things like that. State governments can ignore them. Christmas, New Year's, Memorial Day, Labor Day, President's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Martin Luther King Day are the ones that come to mind for Federal Holidays.
