...follow the Sacred 500-some Commandments of Horror Movies? You know like "Don't turn around" "Never look behind you when you're running" and "If you hear a noise in another room and find out it's only the cat -- GET OUT OF THERE!! It's not the cat!".

It's pretty simple, that would entirely defeat the purpose of horror movies and turn it into a different genre of film.

Horror movies exist for three basic reasons:

1.) They're money makers. ****, gore, and depravity you can't get on TV have been big reasons people go to movies for quite some time now.

2.) People love to be scared. It's an adrenaline rush, and it allows them to forget about their real fears and replace them with superficial ones. Being able to substitute "I'm afraid I'm pregnant", "I'm afraid my mother's cancer has resurfaced", "I'm afraid I won't be able to pay my rent this month" etc. with "OMG don't go in there!!" for 90 minutes can be very refreshing.

3.) Some people just like horror films. Gore, psychology, revenge, whatever they like about them, they like them.

If you have all of the characters doing everything correctly and not getting scared, you take away one or even all three of the reasons horror movies are even made; and you'd be left with a pretty dull film.
