well guess a suitable answer would be, holding on for future use as to not make them look so bad later...generally why people hang for our past mistakes, beside give them something to gossip about as well.

Because thats how humans are, too focused on the bad someone did or atleast any mistakes they made. One mistake can make you equal to a criminal by some people.

you may need to hang around with new people...or convince the old ones you really have changed. Some people's opinions can't be altered once set though....they will forever think of you as their previous assumption.
