When people differ from others, being able to relate to them is hard to do and a lack in understanding makes a horrible mixture for stereotypes, name calling, judging and defense mechanisms to surface. When a pop culture icon is labeled as something in the media, fans become labeled as well (ie. Marilyn Manson = Freak; Marilyn Manson Fans = Freaks). Like it or not your likes and dislikes are also labels you have to live with, I guess. Rated: +2Vote for this!

axeman66	Posted Sep 16th, 2009 at 1:31PM i think it's a combination of insecure people who have a need to ridicule and the fact that music is a very spiritual, powerful thing. if i'm insecure and i feel a need to ridicule to make myself feel better, what better way than to go for something that a person feels so powerfully.
