Start off wit just a little. Don't use harsh colors until you've mastered blending. Invest in a decent brush kit. Set one main focus (usually eyes or lips) and emphasize that. The worst thing you can do is apply too much.
A simple, perfect look can be applying a little foundation (spot apply-under eyes, over blemishes, then blend all together. Make sure you have the right shade) a tiny bit of bronzer on sides of face below cheek bones, a LITTLE black eyeliner on JUST the bottom waterline (not below it), curl your lashes, apply macara. For eye shadow start off w/ two similar colors, one light, one darker (not too dark) apply the lighter color all over the part of the lid that covers your eye, and the darker colo starting at the crease to slighly above the boneLike (1)

My daughter is great at putting on makeup she learned most from youtube
I use a little makeup and my mother never taught me either :(
I will say use makeup brushes!Like (1)
