Why is Ask Experience turning into a Discussion forum?

I think the Q&A section was set up to be an FAQ for modern living. Why do people come to start a fight, and if they do, shouldn't they be kicked out?

I dont know why but I sadly see this has evolved into a Discussion Forum , completely changing the purpose of this experience.

Thankfully my experiences on here have been overwhelmingly positive so far.

I don't understand why people would want to start fights with each other period. Especially on a social networking site. I like making new friends (like yourself Mr. Hedrock).

Not enemies~

i've noticed a change myself and have some theories about why but i won't go there. i love this section because i've picked up some useful information here and, hopefully, people have gained something from the questions i've asked. i would hate to have it go from it's original intention.

Has this suddenly changed in 4 months of me being here?

It was intended for members to think of helpful answers, to reasonable questions. There is that FLAG Inappropriate, option. The best answer is voted on and someone feels nice about being choosen. Thats' it.. flag a comment if it's out of line. This can be a fun section if it's respected.

Kitten: Hrm if we have to wait to have "worthy" questions then I've polluted the Q&A a lot. ;) Any question is of value to someone if it's well-thought.

Seriously though RH... just ignore the fights, the drama, the... whatever. EP is a much saner place when you just don't let those things get to you.

Your question sounds kind of aggressive. I associate aggression with people who are trying to start a fight.

Because it's right on the front page. Easily accessible.

Because good questions that you really learn something from provoke discussion?

I kinda have to agree with Kitten on this one - a very simple explanation: Human Nature (not the Michael Jackson song, or the daggy boy-band, although they may come up in a later discussion).

If you get this many people in one place, the law of large numbers suggests that some people are going to argue. Some people are going to mouth off. Some people are going to be absolute dickheads and try to ruin the experience (boom boom) for everyone else. Fortunately, the flip-side is that there are a lot of great people who practice a bit of respect and self-control.

If only there was a way we could combine EP with the outside world. I'm all for healthy discussion and debate where appropriate, but if only we could put a bouncer on the EP door, so anyone who tries to start something gets thrown out on their ***.

Until then, I guess we'll just have to grin and bear it =)

I agree, it's quite annoying and I'll take some of the blame...it should be for only Q&A period.
