Why is chocolate so addictive?

I have never had a problem being addicted to any substance other than CHCOLATE. I can't go a day without it:(

Because it produces the release of endorphines in your brain (a natural enhancer of pleasurable feelings) and therefore you get addicted to the resulting feelings

MrsIcb4rP	Posted Jul 18th, 2009 at 5:49PM theobromine-the active chemical component of cacao (chocolate), cola nut, acai berries & tea create a kind of addictive quality similar to caffeine in coffee. then of course there's the pea-phenethlamine which increases endorphins, dopamine & oxytocin levels in the brain. i believe that's why most narcotic drugs as well as love & sex tend to be so addicting. its basically science jargon for IT FEELS GOOD. It appears to be a sex substitute and sex is a major drive so relief from that when not available is probably what passes as addiction for chocolate.
