Why is everyone unglued because i like ethnic babies? isn't that taking racism a little to far?

i think it's the fact you're using the term "ethnic" babies. all babies have ethnicity. describing only certain ones as ethnic can be taken as racist.

You may not be racist. Just because you have a certain preference for the appearance of certain babies over others doesn't make you "a racist".

Although personally, I would much rather be called a racist than whatever type of parent has this for a criteria in choosing kids:

"some people are prettier than others"

Of course, you could purchase a dog and perhaps have an easier time at it. But I'm sure a human slave could perform more interesting tricks for you and they usually don't cause a flea problem. No, race definitely doesn't seem to be an issue for you.

Forget all this racism nonsense and enjoy picking out the human that will produce the best pictures for you.You don't really care what color of human you pick to own. Just the fact of owning something exotic is fun enough isn't it? Since most parents really don't have any sense of WTF they are doing to begin with anyway, I hope people won't continue to single you out.

Robyn, I don´t know you so I can not say what your motivations are.

However it was the use of the word "ethnic" that made me wonder what people really understand by this term.

I posted questions ( not addressed at you in any way ) but to the general community and the answers have been varied.

Some say , what I think, that we are all of one race or another so it is hard to say what is ethnic and what isn´t.

Some blatantly have said ethnic is something not white, non-u.s.or from a non-english-speaking country, and that truly saddens me.

It saddens me to see this kind of closed mindedness alive and kicking in the world.

I think people just are trying to understand it. They seem to think you prefer ethnic over u.s. or your own color. I think maybe it is easier to adopt ethnic babies, I wouldn't know just a guess. People always assume every time you discuss ethnicity or are curious about it, it means you're racist. This shows me how politically correct and desperately afraid of looking racist they are and it shows that in reality, if they aren't even comfortable discussing the differences of other races, they are still extremely uncomfortable with other races underneath and are trying to hide it. The more strongly anti-racist you are, the more likely you are to have racist tendencies, kind of like how strongly homophobic people tend to be closet gays. I think this behavior shows that people are sheeps in a crowd concerned more about their public image than being bold enough to have a conversation about something that is taboo--for no reason. Sort of like how ************ is considered taboo yet everyone does it(wtf).
So, don't be so quick to think everything is racist and find offense as a reflexive impulse out of fear. This is a particular thing I'm waiting for society to grow out of.

also, i think what a lot of the people here are picking on is your use of the word "ethnic." the point a lot of them were making is that ALL of us have one ethnic group or another that we identify ourselves with, including you. you said you were Caucasian, and that is an ethnic group. so to refer to anyone as "ethnic" that is dif. from you, is ill advised as it is not correct usage of the word and appears to show an ignorance.

Well, racism to me is basing any opinion on race. So, technically I think your like for babies is racist, but who cares? You aren't hurting anyone (emotionally or physically) by liking babies that are a different ethnicity than you. And ideally I would like the world to be a place where people don't even think about someone's ethnicity or heritage, but that isn't the reality at this point in time. The only harm I can see coming out of a preference like that, is teaching people that there is a difference between people of different ethnicities. If people are going to be taught that, then people will still think that way.
