Why is it okay for older men to have younger partners but looked down upon if its a woman with a younger guy?

Honestly I have not experienced this in my life. Most of the men I date are younger than me by at least 5 yrs and (gasp lol) sometimes more. I don't find the prejudice toward the relationships that some of you describe. Most of the guys' friends think I am "perfect" although I know I am not. I usually fix his friends up with my friends if they treat me right lol.

Interesting since there are more successful Younger men/Elder Women relationships! The reason is very simple actually! men are more than happy to have emotionless Sex because that is how their brains are wired to begin with! Women have the emotional element tied to even casual sex so their relationships are longer and more successful! usually the woman actually breaks it off from the younger man when she feels she's been satisfied! When the younger woman and elder man's relationship is based purely upon sex for the male unless he is needy and the result is usually the same because the female wants more from the relationship including financial stability and emotional satisfaction which she often discovers is not in the plan! She dumps him too! The rare occasions when the Men do the dumping is they are wealthy and are dominant throughout the entire relationship as far as calling all the shots!

My last boyfriend was 12 years younger than I am.

Agree with Gemini15. People see a couple with an obvious age disparity and immediately think "eeeewwwww".

It's a stupid double standard...after all this time. I've dated men in my age range, older than I am and younger than I am--I don't look for a birth certificate. I look for maturity and common ground. End of story...but you go, Dane Mom! ;-)

Double standard I guess.... I think it's creepy tho when a much older man dates a really young women. Like a man in his 40's with a women barely in her 20's!
I think the same would apply for a women dating a man 20 years younger. That's a big gap when you're in your 40's and he is in his early 20's.
As long as it's two consenting adults happy.... then have fun :)

Because guys are typically thought to be assertive in relationships. Thats why old guys with girls are labelled as "still got it"
And young guys with women are "toy boys".

These days the women are looking more 'Lucious'. I'm 40yrs. old and think I'm pretty cute. I drink lots of water!

IF (big IF) I was to consider a female partner again it would have to be an older woman. So I don't think older women should rule out looking for younger guys. I'd prefer maturity. Not wanting more kids. Steady emotions. All kinds of things. Plus older females have finally gotten past their good girl thing and embraced themselves (hopefully).

When I was younger, I wanted an older man. I felt they were smarter and their egos in place, they knew what they wanted, taught it, took it and delivered... however now that I am older I'm strickly interested in libido. I have become the teacher. I know what I want, I'm willing to teach, take and deliver. An old man can't do what I'm looking for....

Because rich old guys like to dangle a younger woman, but rich women don't often go hunting for a younger boy toy.

The only place I see the imbalance is where money is the attraction for the younger women. In the rest of the world, I don't think that gender plays much of a role in those that choose a younger partner. The woman should actually be older in a relationship as men typically don't live as long.

Men take license in doing a lot of things that people around us don't agree with and we enjoy the fact that we did something that people may disagree with. Women are way more sensitive to what people think.

So your answer could be the same if you asked the question, "why do more men drive Ferrari's and Harley Davidsons than women."

Yes, for men as well as for women, love knows no distinction of age, race nationality or anything else. Love is romantically love!
