Hmmm good question. I think the phrase was just universally adopted and made familiar so people understood that it meant a person you make love to once and have no intentions of ever seeing again. But of course that encounter can happen any time of day or night as you've said .. lololol :) It is funny how you just know when a person is going to be a one night stand and no chance you want to see them again ... lolol ...
